We Were Bad, Bad Kids…

… and we deserved much worse than we got:

  • Jason +0.6
  • Jenny -/+

I maintained and Jason gained a much smaller amount than he expected. You see, we were terri-bad this week. Not just a meal or a day, but ALL WEEK LONG. I don’t even want to tell you what we ate because it would feel like gloating. Besides, this blog is about encouraging you and I don’t want to sabotage your own efforts by describing our indulgences. Let’s just say that if we could get it deep-fried, covered in icing, drenched in dressing or smothered in cheese, we ate it.

Bad, I tell you.

And then we didn’t see it on the scale. If we were fresh on our journey, we might be tempted to keep on eating the way we did last week. After all, apparently it wasn’t that bad. But we know better.

Even before our weigh-in last night, Jason and I were back on plan and tracking our hearts out. You see, we’ve learned that you can have one meal, one day, even one week of indulgence, and it won’t entirely derail your efforts. The key is to making sure your splurge has an end. If we let ourselves go for a month… a year… a decade… those effects would be much, much worse.

To the death of you, Splurge!

Part of it may be trying new things. You each had recent changes to your goals and what you want to do. They haven’t become habit yet, or perhaps they’re doing more to help than you know. Regardless. You picked it back up… without anyone’s urging. Self discipline is a lot of effort. And we all know how kinetic energy works, so picking back up where you left off is harder than sticking with it… and you did!
